Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Business Development Manager to strengthen our presence in the Swiss market on a part-time basis. Working at 40-50%, the successful candidate will focus on identifying new business opportunities, nurturing strategic relationships and contributing to the growth of our portfolio with public and private sector clients. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams to position our capabilities effectively and ensure coherent, high-quality delivery.
Key Tasks
Develop and execute business development strategies for the Swiss market.
Identify, qualify and pursue new commercial opportunities in line with company objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, partners and industry stakeholders.
Contribute to the preparation of proposals, tenders and supporting documentation.
Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs and competitor activities.
Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, conferences and networking activities.
Maintain accurate records of pipelines, opportunities and customer interactions within the CRM system.
Support contract negotiations in collaboration with management.
Work closely with project teams to align business development activities with operational capabilities.
Provide regular progress reports and forecasts to senior management.
Required Skills and Experience
Proven experience in business development, sales or account management in the space, defence or high-technology sectors.
Strong understanding of the Swiss market, including public procurement frameworks and key industry players.
Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with clients and partners.
Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously and deliver results within part-time constraints.
Fluent in English and German.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency with CRM tools and standard office software.
Willingness to travel within Switzerland as required.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience working with European or Swiss public institutions, including ESA, the Swiss Space Office or armasuisse.
Knowledge of space mission operations, ground segment systems or satellite applications.
Understanding of sector-specific standards, regulatory frameworks and procurement processes.
Familiarity with proposal writing for complex technical solutions.
Fluency in Swiss German or French.
Existing professional network relevant to the role.
