Our cycle of workshops for 2017 has started with a code quality initiative. The first session on this topic was the "Smelling Code Workshop", held on the last Friday of January at the Solenix's offices.
2016 has been a challenging but very exciting year with many highlights. Now we look forward to a few days of relaxation and to the new adventures that 2017 will bring.
A new update of the ESA Sentinel App is coming up! The latest changes have brought us the acquisition plans and swath animations for Sentinel-1A, Sentinel-1B and Sentinel-2A, a powerful visualization of Sentinel product availability on the geographic and temporal dimensions, the highlights of the Sentinel-1 mission achievements and even a more complete picture of the satellite surroundings in the 3D model section, with the Earth, the Moon, the Sun and the stars now visible.
For our December workshop, we went through the functionalities and benefits of using the Elastic Stack (formerly the ELK Stack).
This free and open-source set of tools provides the ability to collect, store and visualise data from any source. It is particularly useful to synthesize big amounts of data into one comprehensible dashboard, allowing its users to quickly extract relevant information out of data. The Elastic Stack consists of four different components: a dashboard (Kibana), a database (ElasticSearch) and two data collectors (Logstash and Beats).
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, 28th November 2016 – Solenix GmbH and ELSE SA have entered a license agreement that will allow ELSE to rely on Solenix’s Satellite Control System, Elveti, as foundation for the ground segment of its future constellation of nanosatellites, Astrocast.
Annika and Joep, two students at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW, won the Actemium Talent Award in the category “Academic” with their bachelor thesis on the development of our Elveti Mobile Application.
Last Friday and Saturday, more than 50 developers met at the Media Quarter Marx in Vienna for the Copernicus Data Hackathon. This event was organised by INiTS, the business incubator of the local university, and its goal was to create and prototype concepts for innovative services using Copernicus data.
On Friday last week we joined the ESA Open Data Day for the conclusion of the MarsExpress Power Challenge.
Hundreds of people had joined the challenge around the globe with the primary goal to give more operational time to MarsExpress by predicting the thermal power consumption.
Tonight Yann is speaking at the Basel stop of the Swiss Space Roadshow. In one of the three presentations of the evening, he is going to talk about his experience working with ESA and the various career paths at Solenix. A panel discussion and a networking session complete this event. It will give the 60+ registered students and young engineers the opportunity to ask questions to representatives from ESA, the Swiss government, companies and academia.
It was a rainy day in Perugia, Italy. But rain or shine, Solenix is always hard at work promoting and presenting the results of our projects.
