We are looking for an EO PDGS Support Engineer to integrate our ESRIN EO PDGS support teams. In this role you will provide specialized engineering support to ESA/ESRIN on different aspects of the Payload Data Ground Segment (PDGS) on a broad range of Earth Observation missions: Earth Explorers, ESA Third-Party Missions and ESA Heritage Missions. Your tasks can be varied, ranging from PDGS systems’ specification, development, integration and validation as well as operations preparation and support. In more detail, tasks can include:
PDGS system requirements specification
PDGS architectural design specification
Preparation of PDGS Documentation
Participation to Reviews and Acceptance
System and Subsystem Documentation review
Support to Network and Infrastructure specifications
Development of Supporting Tools
Studies, Analysis and Technical Notes
Support to System Activities
Support to Ground Segment Activities
PDGS Activities Coordination
PDGS Reporting
Preparation of Sub-Systems Documentation
Support to the GS Integration and Validation
PDGS preparation for Launch
PDGS Commissioning phase preparation and coordination
PDGS Operational phase preparation
PDGS Evolutions specification
Required Skills and Experience
A university degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Engineering or Computer Science
Experience in ground segment implementation, in particular on:
Analysis and definition of PDGS system requirements
Design of PDGS systems
Development of Payload Data Ground Segments sub-systems
Definition and execution of system integration, verification and validation activities
Analysis and estimation of system performances
System and Software anomalies management: reporting, analysis, classification and resolution.
System engineering experience, preferably in the field of Earth Observation Ground Segment Development
Pro-activeness, good communication skills, team player
Capacity to work autonomously
Capacity to generate good documentation
Fluent in English
Travel might be frequently required
General Skills and Experience
Knowledge of ESA EO missions (and instruments) and processes related to their PDGS development would be an asset
Programming experience (to develop tools for the accomplishment of the PDGS engineering, testing and validation, etc.)
